Where the TB280FR Fits
The TB280FR is a nine-ton class excavator with Takeuchi's side-to-side offset boom and a tight tail swing. Takeuchi states that with the boom stowed upright the upper structure rotates nearly within the width of the tracks, so the machine can work beside walls, barriers, and traffic.
It weighs about 18,810 lbs on rubber tracks or 19,240 lbs on steel, with 69.2 HP, 14 ft 11 in of dig depth, and 23 ft 7.2 in of reach. It has three auxiliary circuits with 39 gpm on the primary, more than any other Takeuchi excavator under ten tons.

TB280FR Compared With Nearby Sizes
The TB290 is the conventional-boom machine at nearly the same weight, with slightly more dig depth and reach. It is the simpler choice where swing room is not a constraint. The TB395W is a wheeled excavator at about 26,425 lbs that travels at up to 18.1 mph between work areas. Choose the TB280FR when a nine-ton machine has to dig along a wall or inside a narrow work zone.
