Where the TB250-2 Fits

The TB250-2 is a five-ton class conventional-tail excavator, about 10,957 lbs with a canopy or 11,288 lbs with a cab. It digs to 12 ft 4.8 in and reaches 20 ft 1 in with a 39 HP engine and a standard long arm.

Primary auxiliary flow is 24 gpm, more than the 17.1 gpm of the four-ton TB240, for hydraulic attachments that need it. Typical work is deeper utility trenching, foundations, septic systems, and site preparation for small commercial and residential projects. Takeuchi lists the undercarriage at 6 ft 0.4 in wide.

TB250-2 Compared With Nearby Sizes

The TB240 is about 2,390 lbs lighter with a foot less dig depth and less auxiliary flow. The TB350R is the short-tail machine in the same weight class: nearly identical weight, 41.7 HP, and a tail swing radius Takeuchi lists at 3 ft 6.3 in against 4 ft 5.5 in here, but about 8 in less dig depth at 11 ft 8.8 in and a wider 6 ft 6.7 in undercarriage. Choose the TB250-2 for depth and a narrower track width, and the TB350R for swing clearance.
